Face:
Lines, curves
Patches, wireframe finish
-Saving face; what’s that?
In a world where image is everything
The faceless walk alone
Those given a face are given hurt
Pain, but also joy
And in this complex convolution of ideas
Only the chic survive

For what now can be done
Is there more to a soul than self?
And on the worn beaches of my mind
Does not every grain of sand define me?
So then why must face torment me?
A hurricane in the mind’s eye
A splinter of right and wrong
And a moral absolute

With this paradox
Travels time alone, face distorted
And shattered: a mirror of myself
Projection in defense of the ego
Or so Freud would say

This face, a face of experience
Changes daily, and allots space
For an emotional hell of contradictions
And unforeseen tendencies

oh, dear.

Thats a very well thought out poem, your work requires reflection and concentration to be understood, clearly, and its worth the time.

On the subject of how we see each other and ourselves, I find an interesting idea to be:

how do we know if our perception of ourselves is complete, or even correct in anyway, as it it is based on only our own senses, which have never been proven beyond doubt to be perfect, accurate, roughly accurate, or false?

Thanks for the comment. I don't know that my preception of myself is complete or correct. What I know is that I am granted a bigger view of myself than anyone else and then it is up to my own analytical skill to determine who I am. I tend to write more like the metaphysical poets of yester-year and I am glad you noticed. I love the more philosophical poets... there are far too few of them today. Thanks for the insightful comment.

Hey, that's ok... speachlessness, in this case, is a good thing. I try my best to leave the reader pondering something... either a question or a statement. Marvin Bell, the poet laurieate of Iowa, once said something along the lines of "prose is prose because of what it includes, poetry is poetry because of what it leaves out." I tend to agree with that statement. Thanks for the comment.

Ack... speechlessness makes me feel stupid. I must say, you do an excellent job of leaving your readers pondering something. After rereading that statement... I have to say that I agree and that it's completely true. I'm not much of a poet myself, but reading some of the GOOD poetry on here helps prove that statement true.

Well, thanks, I appreicate all of the praise I can get... worthy of it though, I am not sure. But I am glad you like my poetry.

Thanks, I appreicate the comment just the same. Prehaps you would appreicate some of the 3D models or fractals I have in my gallery instead of the poetry. I also have a few prose pieces that you might appreicate a little more. I know poetry isn't for everyone, but I find it a facinating past-time.
